Anthony King

Anthony King is from Detroit, Michigan. He is studying Mass Communication at BGSU. When he isn’t community-organizing, he enjoys playing the piano and cooking. Anthony is the 2021 recipient of the Newman Civic Engagement Fellowship, serves on the Human Relations Commission and is the founder and Director of BRAVE.

Keisha Merriweather

Keisha Merriweather is from Springfield, Ohio. She graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications. Her favorite thing to do in her spare time is playing basketball and listening to music.

Najwa Matthews

Najwa Matthews was born in Elyria, Ohio. She graduated from Bowling Green State University with her Bachelors of Science in Architecture. During her undergraduate studies, she served as a Diversity Peer Educator in the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Also, she was a member of Black Student Union (BSU) and the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW). In her spare time, she enjoys reading and dancing.

Coniyah McKinney

Coniyah is a senior from Detroit, Michigan, studying Communication with a Cognate in Theatre Education at BGSU. His service to the community includes being a mentor and team leader in the SMART Program in the Office of Residence Life, and a student recruiter in the Office of Admissions. He works as a mentor and student worker for TRIO Programs. Coniyah was the 2019 BGSU Homecoming King, a Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Scholar, Vice-President for the Epsilon Theta Wrath chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, and the former Director for The Voices at BGSU. Coniyah loves engaging in theatrical and choral musical arts in his spare time.

Martha Snehalatha Chandran-Dickerson

Martha Chandran-Dickerson was born in India, but raised in Belgium, England and Kenya. She has a Master of Arts in English and a dual major Bachelor of Arts in both Communications and English. She is a Writing Consultant, Freelance Writer, Editor and Bridge-builder. She serves as one of 11 moderators on one of Facebook’s largest online communities “Be the Bridge,” a faith-based organization dedicated to restorative justice and racial reconciliation. Martha also serves as a Writing Consultant and Advisor for Bowling Green’s BRAVE.

Cori Pryor

Cori is from Fremont, California. She is currently a PhD student at Bowling Green State University, studying criminology and quantitative methods. In her spare time, she teaches yoga at a local studio, organizes mentorship opportunities for women, and loves trying out new recipes.

Atonn Smeltzer

Atonn is a 2010 graduate of Bowling Green State University; originally from Brunswick, Ohio, he works and lives in Bowling Green, with his wife and child. In addition to being a vital part of BRAVE, Atonn is a partner in a financial planning firm, and the founder and owner of Weddings for the Ages (custom wedding officiants). He is an outspoken advocate for racial justice, mental health, and LGBTQ rights.

Renee Hopper

Renee is from Dublin, Ohio. In Spring 2021, she'll be a BGSU graduate with a BFA in Creative Writing. Aside from her own writing, she enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and serving as Administrative Assistant and Writer for BRAVE.

Paul Chambers

PJ Chambers is from Detroit Michigan and studies Visual Communication Technology at BGSU. Along with serving on BRAVE, he runs a production studio in Bowling Green where he is the Head Producer and Audio Engineer.

Kayla Jones

Kayla Jones is a third year Management and Technology major with a business concentration in the College of Technology at BGSU. She uses her background in management and finance as the Treasurer of Brave. She’s also passionate about entrepreneurship which has lead her to be involved in the Black business initiative.
